Often families will seek counseling together when the following occurs:

  • Parenting differences
  • Frequent conflict
  • Person or persons in the family battling depression, anxiety, trauma or substance abuse
  • Death in the family
  • Financial stress
  • Enmeshed boundaries
  • Change in family roles

Families go through many transitions; this inevitably affects the entire family unit. Some of the goals in family therapy are: individuals have the ability to express their needs, family members feeling heard and understood, and family members ability to disagree with respectful communication. It is most effective when the entire immediate family is able to participate.
