Common Reasons an individual adult will seek therapy:

Therapy will often consist of take-home assignments, both behavioral and written, implemented to challenge the individual towards positive change. There are occasions when I will recommend a visit to a Doctor to rule out physiological sources of your symptoms. And on other occasions, I will recommend a Psychiatrist Assessment if symptoms are severe and I feel medication may be merited or considered alongside therapeutic services.
